Monuments and museums

Goya museum, established in 1840 contains the largest collection of Spanish paintings in France. LA MONTAGNE NOIRE - BLACK MONTAIN


It is home to its feet Mazamet City (capital of the Black Mountain) in the Tarn, is a mountainous area located at the south-west of the Massif Central, France. It separates the departments of Tarn, Hérault and Aude. Geography La Montagne Noire is shared between 4 departments, Aude and Tarn are the main while the Haute-Garonne and Hérault are the borders. The massive east-west has two faces: the north is covered with steep dark forests of oak, beech, fir and spruce. The town of Mazamet is situated at the foot of the slope. The south slope is less steep and includes two major countries: Cabardès which extends south to Carcassonne, the Minervois in the East and parts of lauragais in the West. Many parts of the slope can observe beautiful views of the chain Pyrénéenne (Pradelles-Cabardès Saissac, Cuxac-Cabardès). The climate is relatively mild on the whole of the Mediterranean type, but quite windy. However, in the Cabardès and the north, there is more expense. Summer is less hot in the plains through the rainforest and the winter is often fresh with regular snowfall at higher elevations. In the Minervois, the wind is more present (Cers Marino and relay) but also the sun.


  

Its highest point is Pic de Nore, 1 210 meters. Black Mountain is included in the Regional Natural Park of Upper Languedoc.
